At the 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Marcus Beach Bushcare Association (MBBA), held on 25 September, there was plenty to celebrate! The meeting was not only an opportunity to reflect on the incredible progress made over the past year, but also a chance to update members on some important governance changes and, of course, announce the new committee members who will help guide MBBA into the future. Here’s a quick recap:
Key AGM Highlights:
- Dispute Resolution Process: The adoption of a new dispute resolution process, in line with changes to the Associations Incorporation Act Regulation, was approved, ensuring MBBA remains fully compliant.
- Treasurer’s Report: The Treasurer’s report for 2024 was presented, including the remuneration disclosure. The finances were approved and will be included in the annual return, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Tax Status Self-Assessment: A new requirement to provide a self-assessment of our tax status to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) was noted, keeping us on track with regulatory obligations.
Welcome to the New Committee:
We’re excited to announce the new members of the Marcus Beach Bushcare Committee! Please join us in congratulating:
- Adrian Gallagher – President
- Colin Ingram – Treasurer
- Michelle Wilson – Secretary
- Jude Tulloch – Committee Member
Adrian, a founding member who attended the very first Bushcare site meeting back in 2009, has now made Marcus Beach his permanent home. He’s stepping into the role of President and will also coordinate the Beach Access 46 working group, bringing his deep passion and experience to the forefront of our efforts.
A Big Thank You:
A heartfelt thank you to our outgoing Secretary, Marian Kroon, and long-time committee member Graham Coghill. Their tireless dedication and support have been invaluable to the success of our organisation, and we’re incredibly grateful for everything they’ve contributed. We wouldn’t be where we are today without the commitment of volunteers like Marian and Graham.
With the new committee in place, we’re excited for the year ahead and the continued growth of Marcus Beach Bushcare. Together, we’ll keep working towards a greener, healthier, and more sustainable environment for our community.
Stay tuned for more updates and opportunities to get involved!
