First turtle hatchlings at Marcus Beach

Hi Bushcarers,

Welcome to 2018. Did you know our first turtle nest ‘ran’ on Tuesday night near the beach access at Castaway Cove? There were 146 hatchlings.

Colin our MBBA turtle supremo, as part of Coolum Coastcare Turtle Watch, has been run off his feet. This year there are 40 nests north of the Maroochydore River, and turtles are still coming in to lay! (Last year was a record with 28 nests.)

The beautiful web of nature that we hold dear, and seek to preserve calls us once more. We are kicking off next week at the Marcus Section of Noosa National Park on Thursday, followed by Peregian Creek on Saturday.

Best Wishes,

Judy
