Once more we shall be meeting at Beach Access 49 to tackle the dreaded Asparagus Fern south of the boardwalk from 8am this Saturday, the 18th. We might also do some cutting and swabbing of Pepper Trees. There has been a great stand of them in the swale south of the boardwalk and Landcare was there again yesterday clearing a lot of them.
I have attached a couple of photos showing the dense mass of Asparagus Fern in early 2016 south of the boardwalk versus the situation this month. What you can’t see is a group of Shepherd’s Crook Orchids that are now freely inhabiting this landscape. Great work by all concerned.
