Peregian Creek Weeding

There will be our usual first Saturday of the month weeding down by the creek (Beach Access 49) from 8 am.

We can continue working on the Asparagus south of the boardwalk.  The council contractors did some work there last Friday and there isn’t much to go before we’ve cleared to the school planting site on the little knoll; a significant achievement.  For those who would like a change the Singapore Daisy is working its way in down near the creek mouth and needs to have its advance reversed.

Meanwhile, in the creek, back up near the bridge, where the Singapore Daisy had again run rampant, the Council contractors have cleared it all out and placed it in piles in the adjacent bush.  I questioned this practice after we found the last lot of piles sprouting.  However, I was told that if we allow the top half to dry out and then turn the piles most of the weed will die off.  Council is also supposed to follow up and spray any regrowth, though I can also do that.

Hope to see you on Saturday, if it isn’t raining too hard.
