BEACH CLEAN-UP UPDATE
At last, the weather enabled Council to continue the beach clean-up. Here are some photos Shaun Walsh from Council sent me last week of the clean-up operation at BA 490 Castaways Beach on Tuesday, May 31.
Shaun noted that:
- The process continues to laborious with both use of the vacuum truck and hand collection, but good progress has been made
- Beach conditions are challenging for the truck deployment, as the beach sand has still not consolidated from recent weather events, and combined with the angle of the beach, makes travel on the beach very slow
Council continues to be very appreciative of community efforts to assist in the clean-up of remaining debris on our beaches arising from the SEQ floods.
