Hi All,
The Council has advised that in view of the Covid situation, they are delaying the Bushcare working bees until the beginning of March.
Renata has asked me to circulate her email below to you.
I hope you have had a restful and happy summer break and are keeping well.
Best wishes,
Jude
Dear Bushcare Team Leaders,
Happy New Year. I hope you all have had a relaxing break and are no doubt eager to get back into it.
As some of you are aware, my start of 2022 was slow, I was sick with Covid and had quite a negative reaction to it. But I am better now, and excited to finally coming back to work.
I’m sure you are all aware of the current situation with COVID-19. The situation has escalated since the lift of Queensland border restrictions resulting in us being in a different scenario than that of 2020.
Due to the currently high rate of community infections and relatively low rate of booster vaccinations, all Bushcare activities scheduled to recommence in February will be postponed until March 2022, when the situation will be re-evaluated.
We are particularly concerned as many of our volunteers fall into some high-risk categories should they contract the illness. Please note that Council appointed a COVID-19 task force who have been responsible for deciding Council’s approach to managing its staff and the community. The Environment Services branch will continue to liaise with the taskforce, closely monitoring the situation.
Harry and I will still be active during this time and will be undertaking maintenance on the Bushcare sites to ensure that they don’t go backwards. We also have the Bonus Team and extra resource to help to maintain our Bushcare sites.
I will be in contact with the group leaders over the next few days to book a date for a Bushcare Team Leader meeting with our Environment and Sustainable Development Manager and Environmental Operations Coordinator.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you all for patience.
Team Leaders, could you please forward this email to all your Bushcare Group members.
Regards,
Renata
