CHAP Roundtable talks: Bushcare has a say

Marcus Creek after a storm event

Hi Bushcarers,

You may have seen references in the local paper to the Noosa Council’s Coastal Hazards Adaptation Plan Roundtable talks that are currently underway.  The MBBA is represented at the Roundtable under the umbrella of the Eastern Beaches Bushcare Collaboration. The views of Coastal Bushcarers have been sought by Council because the Eastern Beaches Bushcare Coordinators from Sunshine Beach to Peregian have been active in bringing the issues concerning the Eastern Beaches Reserves to both Council staff and Councillors.

Jill Campbell, a long-standing resident of Sunshine Beach with an encyclopedic knowledge of the Coastal Reserves, is representing us. Her extensive experience undertaking large revegetation projects, and a sound understanding of the issues relating to the Eastern Beaches will provide invaluable input to the Roundtable.

There are seven different stakeholder groups invited: – Hastings Street Association, Eastern Beaches Protective Alliance, Eastern Beaches Bushcare Collaborative, Noosa North Shore Residents Association, Noosaville Business Association, Peregian Family and Friends Association, and Peregian Beach Community Association.  The Council has sought and received from the State Government, an extension of time to finalize the CHAP, from the May deadline until November to further consult the community.

If you have anything that you would like to raise or contribute please let me know and I will pass it on to Jill.

The MBBA’s submission on the Draft is on our website. Click on the Home pulldown menu and then click on Documents.

Jude
