We are so excited to share that Marcus Beach Bushcare Association (MBBA) has received a generous grant through the RACQ Local Giving Program!
This wonderful program gives community organisations the chance to apply for grants of up to $500 through their local RACQ store, supporting projects that make a real difference on the ground.
Thanks to RACQ’s support under the Environmental Sustainability category, MBBA has purchased brand new Asparagus Assassins to help our dedicated bushcare volunteers in their ongoing battle against asparagus fern. Invented by local Peregian Beach bushcarer Ron Gooch, the Asparagus Assassin is a true game changer. Since its launch last year, it has been enthusiastically embraced by our team, enabling us to clear even more of this invasive weed from our beautiful foreshore reserves.
As a reminder, ground asparagus fern spreads rapidly, quickly smothering native understory plants and creating an unpleasant prickly mess for anyone who comes in contact with it.
Thank you RACQ for your incredible support and commitment to our local environment. Grants like this empower community groups like ours to keep our bushland healthy and thriving for everyone to enjoy.
